Life in the suburbs

It is a fact that life in town is quieter and less stressful than in the city. The suburbs keep some natural landscapes, which allow people to enjoy and get to know nature. However, sometimes it can be hard to get used to live there.

It is said that people who move to the suburbs are looking for a better life, more relaxing and healthier, but how can they get a totally relaxed life if they have to travel everyday to the city?. The suburbs are not a developed place compared with others; therefore it does not offer many opportunities of jobs, so people are forced to get jobs in the cities.

The life style in the suburbs does not bother kids, as for them it is the perfect place to make new friends, be in touch with nature, and sometimes even get the chance to have a pet. But for them the problem comes when they grow up, and have to start university. Because the main education centers such as universities, colleges, institutes, and qualified libraries are far from the suburbs, teenagers have to start travelling to the city in order to get a better education.

In conclusion, living in the suburbs involves a lot of efforts and sacrifices that not anyone can do. Nevertheless this life style still being less stressful than cities, and it actually helps children to have a better childhood.                                           Fanzi Wong

Being robbed

Being robbed is a horrible experience no one would like to go through. This happened long time ago when I was eight years old and my mom and aunt who worked in a mail agency on

Lecuna Avenue

, decided to take me with them. On Saturdays a lot of people used to go there, because it was the day the plane leave to send all the letters, parcels, and money (dollars). I was still a child so I was just playing around with my doll. At noon it was time to close, so my mom and aunt closed the door to not anyone else in, but they heard someone knocking on the door, they looked, and saw two men standing right there. My aunt told them it was already closed, but they begged her to let them in so they could finish writing their letters and send some money. Because my aunt was very generous, she let them in. While the other people in the office were writing their letters, my mom and aunt preparing the bags to take the parcels to the airport, and I was playing around; the two men took out their guns and told us to lie on the floor. At that moment everybody was scared, nervous, and some were even crying; and I was just holding my doll and praying, though I did not really realized how dangerous the situation was. Then the two men to looked for the money everywhere, took people’s wallet and jewelry. As soon as they got all the valuable stuff, they locked us in the office and left. My mom decided to wait at least fifteen minutes after they left to call the police so they could get us out. It was really a scary experience that I will never forget.

Getting to know someone

Getting to know someone takes long time, therefore here you have a brief description of myself, so you get to know me a little bit. First of all, my name is Fanzi Wong Huayanay, and I am a twenty year-old girl who studies at the UPEL the career of English education. Because of my last name some people think I am Chinese, but I am not, I am Venezuelan. However my grandfather was the one Chinese; my father is Chilean and my mother Peruvian, so it is like a mixture of cultures. I was born in
Caracas on October 6TH 1985. About my physical appearance, I am a little over weight and short, I have black short hair, and black eyes. I consider myself as a helpful, gentle, and shy person. Some things I like are embroidering, swimming, and going to the movies. I also love hanging out with my friends on Saturday nights, playing pictionary, and scrabble. Nevertheless what I really detest is a person who smokes and takes drugs. These are some of the characteristics that more or less show how I am so you know me a little bit, hoping to start a friendship.
